Which storytime is right? August 20, 2007
What storytime is right for us?
Use the following descriptions to help you decide. All ages are general; choose the option that is right for your child’s abilities and current stage. Each storytime has its own “flavor” so try out one or two to find the one that fits your child’s enjoyment needs.
LapSit: Birth -12 months
This program is designed for children and their caregivers to enjoy together. It features books, songs, bouncy rhymes, fingerplays and lots of fun for little ones and their caregivers. This is best enjoyed by babies until they start walking.
Bonding with Babies: Birth – 12 months
Bonding with Babies is a variation on LapSit. We begin with stories, songs, and rhymes and end with playtime. This is a great chance for Moms and Dads to get out of the house and meet other parents, discuss parenting questions, or find out what’s going on in the area while your baby makes new friends too.
We provide age appropriate toys for the babies as well as fun music.
Many new friendships have been formed from Bonding with Babies as well as LapSit. Join us for one or both!
Wobbly Toddlers: walking – 18 months
This storytime is the next step after Lap Sit. Toddlers will be able to join in as they become familiar with the songs and rhymes that will be repeated from week to week with lots of new books to enjoy.
Tot Time: 18 months – 3 years old
It’s time to explore the world! Now that your baby has started to walk, he/she is ready to roam. This energetic storytime features a lot of movement, singing, dancing, and some stories too.
Preschool: 3 – 5 years old
This program has all the fun of storytime with a craft too. Children will sing, dance, and listen to great stories and then make a craft related to the stories. Crafts may involve coloring, cutting, and pasting.
Family Stories:Evening stories and songs for all ages.
The Children’s Center Librarians at Brighton Memorial Library work continually to present fresh and exciting programs. Please let us know if you have any specific needs or request and we will adapt as possible. We are here to help your family connect through literature, learning, and fun.
