Storytimes

Storytimes are the backbone of all children’s library programs.  By attending storytime, you are helping to develop language skills, increasing vocabulary and comprehension, and setting the stage for a love of reading while preparing the child to read, which can even help them do better in school in the years to come.  Don’t forget the other benefits: it’s a bonding experience for you both when you sit together to listen to stories, sing, and dance.

Storytimes aren’t just for the children!  In most of our storytimes we will have handouts for you to bring home to keep the experience going.  We ask that parents and caregivers participate in storytime to not only model proper behavior but also to learn how to talk, sing, and read together.  All this from listening to stories!!

Brighton Memorial Library offers a range of storytimes to suit target age groups.  No matter the age, we have a storytime for children from birth through preschool.  All of our storytimes are drop-in—no registration required!
